First time at BA
THE MON is the solo project of Urlo, vocalist and bassist of the long-running Italian heavy-psychedelic trio Ufomammut. Where Ufomammut projects massive, otherworldly soundscapes, THE MON offers a more vulnerable and introspective experience. The music moves through shadowy electronic landscapes, ambient textures, and hypnotic dark folk, always guided by an emotional core that searches for meaning, balance, and transformation. The name THE MON evokes several layers of meaning: a contraction of “demon,” “monk,” and the Japanese word "mon" meaning “gate”, a symbolic passage toward altered states of consciousness and inner truth. This duality of light and dark, sacred and profane, runs through the entire project. THE MON live is a raw, immersive, and emotionally charged performance. With minimal setup and maximum impact, Urlo brings the audience into his inner landscapes, a slow-burning, hypnotic ritual that blends sound, space, and introspection.
Urlo’s artistic path has always merged sound and vision: with Malleus Rock Art Lab, he has created hand-printed, highly collectible poster artworks for bands such as Swans, Mastodon, Sleep, Melvins, Foo Fighters etc.
Through Supernatural Cat, Urlo has supported and released music by forward-thinking and sonically intense artists such as Skyjoggers, Gotho, Ovo, Lento, Morkobot, Zolle, and of course Ufomammut and THE MON.
