карити (kariti) – (‘mourn the dead’ in church Slavonic, an antique Slavic liturgical language) – Russian-born artist poet, composer and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Italy. Her debut Covered Mirrors was released in September 2020 by the cult Italian label Aural Music (mj. Imperial Triumphant, Messa) and represents a ‘cathartic peregrination through bereavement’. Marco, the leader of the heavy sludge band Grime contributes to some of the songs and joins kariti for live performances. kariti’s latest relases sees a notable development in her sound, songwriting and instrumentation. Apart from electric guitars, kariti plays various synthesizers and piano, and the record features strings, a song with drums and bass, multiple contributions.
Since 2021, kariti has toured Europe multiple times, has shared the stage with Messa, Grift and supporting Brutus to open the Italian leg of their tour. kariti’s intense live shows have been described as liturgy-like and cathartic.
