This year's Brutal will be even greener

07.08.2022

At this year's Brutal you will come across several innovations that we are trying to make the festival even more environmentally friendly, which is our long-term goal. The main novelty concerns the waste sorting and recovery system in the grounds and campsites. Everywhere you will find new special sorting bins made of recycled material. The waste disposal system is the same as you are used to from where you live: the bins are colour-coded and clearly labelled with information on which waste goes where.
(The sorting bins with the Brutal Assault logo are also stylish and will appear on our e-shop, if any of you would like to have one outside your house.)

We will make the most of the sorted waste - for example, bio-waste, which includes our eco-ware, will be used to produce biogas to replace conventional gas. The plastics are then further sorted by a specialist company to make the most of them, and next year we'll also have a special edition merch made from recycled materials from the plastics sorted at the festival. Glass, paper and metals are also recycled, of course, and we also process food waste from the stalls, such as leftover food or oil, to the maximum extent possible.

Information about waste sorting at the festival can be found in our Festival guide, app and website. We will have a stand of the Rolling Waste project of the Faculty of Environment of the University of Agriculture in Prague on site all the time, where you will get all the necessary information on sorting and minimizing waste and you will be able to participate in various ecological workshops. For example, making barefoot shoes, which you will then be able to take away.

At the festival you can also support our other ecological projects - Brutal Forest f.e. This forest, planted by Brutal fans over the last two years, is growing in several locations near Hradec Králové and this autumn we will be planting several thousand more trees. You can follow their growth and CO2 removal on the international ecological platform Restor (https://beta.restor.eco/map/site/brutal-forest-cerna-studanka). You can support further planting by buying Brutal Forest-themed eco-shirts, which will be available at the festival.

We hope that these ecological innovations at Brutal will contribute to even more comfort (especially in the campsites) and that primary sorting, further waste recovery and waste minimisation will also become commonplace outside the festival. Thank you!
