Draugveil is a pioneer of modern black metal, characterized by a raw and uncompromising sound that harkens back to the brutal purity of the Norwegian scene of the 1990s. They debuted with the album "Cruel World of Dreams and Fears", which is described as romantic black metal. This new subgenre is characterized by a fundamental contrast: music that is uncompromisingly raw, harsh, and authentic is set against the visual world of epic high fantasy. Through this combination of traditional black metal with the dark, genre-bending sensibilities of modern gothic and emo audiences, Draugveil has established itself as a versatile creator of a brutally authentic, yet unexpectedly beautiful sound.
