BELPHEGOR

Country: Austria
Genre: BLACK / DEATH METAL

Austrian demonologists BELPHEGOR have been flying the flag of uncompromising diabolical black/death metal since 1993. Spearheaded by guitarist and vocalist Helmuth, the band has spent over three decades forging a formidable wall of sound that merges death metal's violent precision with the ritualistic darkness and blasphemy of the black metal underground.

From raw, unhinged early opuses like The Last Supper (1995), Blutsabbath (1997), and Necrodaemon Terrorsathan (2000), the Austrian machine carved its path to genre landmarks such as Lucifer Incestus, Bondage Goat Zombie, and Pestapokalypse VI. Their signature style is instantly recognizable: technical mastery, arcane symbolism, religious inversion, and multilingual incantations weaving German, Latin, and English into genuine sonic exorcisms.

Their twelfth studio record, The Devils (2022), captured at Fascination Street Studios with producer Jens Bogren, showcased BELPHEGOR at their most ambitious and solemnly majestic. Tracks like "Glorifizierung des Teufels" and "Virtus Asinaria – Prayer" seamlessly blend feral aggression with choral arrangements and ritual structures—an achievement that even earned them the prestigious Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard & Heavy category.

A BELPHEGOR show is never just a performance; it is a full-scale black mass. Smoke, blood, incense, and a wall of extreme sound collide to create an intoxicating infernal procession. With the band currently summoning their thirteenth studio effort—a release centered around breaking the thirteenth seal to reveal an even more primal force—their upcoming appearance promises a devastating sonic ritual.
