Poland has bestowed upon the extreme metal world numerous iconic names, yet few operate with such uncompromising brutality and surgical precision as AZARATH. Formed in 1998 by drumming phenomenon Zbigniew "Inferno" Promiński (best known for his long-standing pivotal role in Behemoth) alongside guitarist Damián "Bruno" Kuster, the band was birthed out of a desire to create a more direct, darker, and sinister sonic assault.
While Behemoth gradually evolved into a theatrical and orchestrally intricate blackened death metal juggernaut, AZARATH has maintained its raw, blasphemous edge for over two decades. Their musical signature is carved from blistering blast beats, razorsharp dissonant riffs, and unapologetically anti-Christian lyricism. This is pure, unadulterated death metal that merges the chaotic fury of the classic Florida scene (Morbid Angel, Deicide) with the legendary Polish trademark of unmatched rhythmic tightness.
AZARATH’s discography is stacked with underground classics. Following their breakthrough debut Demon Seed (2001) and the punishing Infernal Blaspheming (2003), they cemented their status with Diabolic Impious Evil (2006). Praise the Beast (2009) showcased a band at the peak of their songwriting aggression, while Blasphemers' Malediction (2011) introduced a slightly darker, black-metal-infused atmosphere without sacrificing an ounce of velocity. Their latest full-length, Saint Desecration (2020) via Agonia Records proved once again that AZARATH does not soften with age—they only grow more destructive.
