The Brazilian ensemble The Laws revives the wild legacy of the legendary Sarcófago, one of the most influential extreme metal bands of the late 1980s. The project is led by bassist and founding Sarcófago member Gerald “Incubus” Minelli, who gathered around him a group of seasoned musicians from the Brazilian metal scene. On stage, they deliver raw, faithful, yet energetically fresh renditions of classics like INRI and The Black Vomit. In doing so, The Laws not only pay homage to the original band but also prove that the fire of early Brazilian black/death metal still burns strong.
Although The Laws are a tribute project, they are far from being a mere copy. Instead, they continue Sarcófago’s tradition of provoking, pushing boundaries, and keeping the music extreme, confrontational, and authentic. Their concerts are both a tribute and a rebirth — blending the aggressive energy of the original songs with a modern sonic force and renewed passion. In this way, The Laws have become not only guardians of Sarcófago’s legacy but also its new, living embodiment for the next generation of extreme metal fans.
