The music of the collective Sand Nudes moves slowly forward like grain by grain—layers of ambient landscapes shift over one another, building up to an euphoric bath of noise. The band plays predominantly improvised material, featuring David Tichý (also of Further Down) on cassettes/synth, Václav Dobiáš (Sweeps 04) on guitar, and Vojtěch Tomášek (ex-Dreare) on bass. Distorted samples from obscure films and the screeches of noise boxes transition into drone metal guitar strums and soothing harmonic textures, which are soon swallowed by yet another sandstorm. The band's released recordings are a faithful reflection of their live performances—the 40-minute colossus SN1.1 and the two half-length tracks released under the title SN1.2 expand the collective's expression while sticking to a minimalist concept and an emphasis on chance and sonic instability. In the coming months, Sand Nudes will also release their first physical media in the form of a cassette tape and will bring their radical take on ambient music to the Brutal Assault festival.
