RUÏM was formed in 2020 by Norwegian Grammy-winning guitarist Blasphemer (Rune Eriksen), known from bands like Vltimas and Mayhem. Joining him on drums is French drummer César Vesvre (Agressor, Thagirion). Inspired by the rediscovery of long-lost Mayhem-era riffs from 1998–1999 and a desire to revisit his unique musical legacy, Blasphemer created a dark opus rooted in Brazilian witchcraft and the left-hand path of the Umbanda tradition, merging the past with a visionary approach.
Their debut album, “Black Royal Spiritism – I – O Sino da Igreja”, is a sinister creation steeped in ominous atmosphere and Blasphemer’s trademark brutal riffing. With lyrics in English, Portuguese, and Norwegian, the album delves into the lore and rituals of linha da esquerda. Responding to growing demand for live performances, RUÏM has assembled a full lineup, set to begin exclusive festival appearances in late 2024. Blasphemer states: “It all begins anew. I’m happy to partner with Doomstar Bookings for this new journey. Expect unique and special shows. Venham à missa!”
