Formed in the mid-80s, they quickly became one of the few Australian names to break onto the international scene. Their debut *Mayhemic Destruction* (1986) is considered a genre classic — fast, aggressive, uncompromising thrash with clear ties to both the American and European schools. The follow-up, *Face of Despair* (1989), cemented their ambition to become a global thrash force, delivering a heavier sound enriched with more pronounced melodies.
Although the band went through several breakups and lineup changes, their impact on the Australian extreme scene is undeniable. Mortal Sin inspired a generation of younger bands unafraid to fuse thrash intensity with their own identity. Their later-year returns — including the album *Psychology of Death* (2011) — proved that their energy and passion remained intact even decades later.
