Królówczana Smuga is an audiovisual project founded by Adam Piętak, a native of Biłgoraj. His musical narratives are driven by distorted guitar sounds reminiscent of old, dusty, and neglected instruments that someone left in their great-grandfather’s attic or dug up from a secret grave in the woods. There is also a voice here that is far from clear singing and sounds more like the screech of some exhausted vagabond whose throat has taken in plenty of alcohol over the course of his life.

Reviving memories that are hidden, uncomfortable, lost, or simply denied—and yet inextricably linked to the culture of Biłgoraj—becomes the leitmotif of Królówczan Smug’s work.

However, this is not about ethnocentrism. Biłgoraj is merely a point of reference and a starting point that encourages the search for lost truths in our local homelands and our own countries. Królówczana Smuga deeply reflects on the fate of his hometown and, from the perspective of a provincial wandering beggar, demonstrates that the relationship between his country’s past and present is complicated, while also criticizing popular historical politics.
