Described as “Atari Teenage Riot playing Melvins”, arottenbit is an electronic music project that collides sludge metal heaviness, hardcore punk energy, and raw techno violence through the most unlikely of instruments: a 1989 Nintendo Game Boy salvaged from the trash. What began in 2008 as the vision of Alessandro “Otto” Galli (FOH sound engineer for Messa, Deafheaven, Pallbearer, Truckfighters, Bongzilla, Fuoco Fatuo) has grown into a singular force at the intersection of extreme music and chiptune chaos.
From 70 to 240 BPM, arottenbit channels the disorienting energy of late-night afterparties, the aggression of punk, and the weight of sludge, proving that in the spirit of punk you don’t even need a “real” instrument to create devastating sound.
Performing solo with his Game Boy or with hardcore drummer Guido Montanarini (Paradise Lost, Implore, The Secret), arottenbit has shared stages with Melvins, Atari Teenage Riot, The Body, Melt Banana, Author & Punisher, Full of Hell, and more. His reputation is built on relentless live performances and unforgettable appearances at festivals like Roadburn and Hellfest.
