Thrashers beware — New York veterans DEMOLITION HAMMER are coming to restore order and set things straight! Formed in 1986, the band caught the attention of the metal community in 1988 with their first demo Skull Fracturing Nightmare, and has since become one of the leading names of the East Coast thrash scene. Between 1990 and 1994, they released three studio albums: Tortured Existence (1990), Epidemic of Violence (1992), and Time Bomb (1994). The first two records are now considered cult classics — with their brutality, fast and gritty riffs, and intense delivery, they defined the heavier edge of thrash metal and are often regarded as straddling the line between thrash and death metal. The final album, Time Bomb, marked a significant shift toward a slower groove-metal style, and shortly after its release in 1995, the band disbanded.
After more than two decades, Demolition Hammer reunited in 2016. Although they have not released a new studio album since their return, their live shows — often featuring material from *Epidemic of Violence* — serve as a welcome reminder to many thrash and death-thrash fans of why Demolition Hammer remains one of the cult bands of the genre.
