WYATT E.

Country: Belgium
Genre: DRONE / DOOM METAL

Since their formation in 2015, Belgian band Wyatt E. has established themselves as one of the most intriguing names in the contemporary drone/doom metal scene, known for their hypnotic and atmospheric compositions inspired by ancient civilizations. Their music blends heavy metal riffs with traditional Middle Eastern instruments such as the saz, sitar, and viola, creating soundscapes that evoke the mysticism and rituals of ancient cultures. Their debut EP, Mount Sinai/Aswan (2015), launched a conceptual series continued with the album Exile to Beyn Neharot (2017), which focused on Babylonian mythology. In 2022, they released āl bēlūti dārû, further deepening their exploration of ancient themes. Their latest album, zamāru ultu qereb ziqquratu Part 1 (2025), represents the first part of a two-part series set during the exile of Jerusalemite captives in Mesopotamia, featuring guest vocals from singer Nina Saeidi and conductor Tomer Damsky. The band has gained recognition not only for their studio recordings but also for their powerful live performances at festivals such as Desert Fest Antwerp, Stoned from the Underground, and Roadburn. Their music is characterized by slow, meditative intensity and a capacity to draw listeners into deep, ritualistic sonic spaces.
