First time at BA
American extreme metal band Pyrrhon is known for its dizzying fusion of death metal, grindcore, noise rock, and free improvisation. Their wild instrumental interplay, grimly poetic lyrics, and sheer aggression have secured them a lasting place at the cutting edge of the genre.
Formed in 2008 after a chance meeting in a New York City subway, Pyrrhon quickly gained recognition with their debut EP "Fever Kingdoms" (2008) and album "An Excellent Servant, But a Terrible Master" (2011). Their breakthrough came with "The Mother of Virtues" (2014), released on the legendary Relapse Records, which led to extensive touring across the US and Europe. This period also saw the release of EPs "Growth Without End" (2015) and "Running Out of Skin" (2016), expanding their sonic range.
After parting ways with Relapse, Pyrrhon joined the death metal label Willowtip Records for the albums "What Passes for Survival" (2017) and the experimental "Abscess Time" (2020), both produced by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice, Dysrhythmia). Their latest album, "Exhaust" (2024), delivers their most concise and direct work yet, without sacrificing the disorienting atmosphere and technical ferocity that defines their sound. Inspired by the pervasive burnout of modern life in America.
