PRIMUS return to the Czech Republic after 15 years!
Primus are an American band that cannot be easily described or categorized — and that’s precisely what makes them one of the most entertaining, bizarre, and original phenomena on the metal scene. They formed in the mid-80s, yet their unique style feels as if they emerged from an alternate universe where funk, metal, punk, avant-garde and absurdist humor follow entirely different laws of physics. The heart and driving force of the band is the legendary bassist Les Claypool, whose virtuosity, rhythmic playfulness and wild bass lines are the cornerstone of the Primus sound. Thanks to him, Primus have that unmistakable groove — twisting, bouncing, twitching, and often sounding less like an instrument and more like some independently living creature. Their lyrics are absurd, satirical, grotesque and sometimes melancholic — the world of Primus is inhabited by racers, oddballs, fishermen, clowns, and heroes of questionable integrity.
Throughout their career, Primus have released a number of albums that have achieved cult status, including Frizzle Fry, the iconic Sailing the Seas of Cheese, and the wonderfully strange narrative work Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People. The band has never played by the rules — instead, they enthusiastically bend, break and reshape them into something entirely new. Their concerts are intense, almost psychedelic rides where the audience never quite knows whether to dance, laugh, or simply stare in awe as the musical chaos transforms into perfect order. Over the decades, Primus have earned the reputation of being one of the most creative and influential alternative bands, one that refuses to repeat itself and always manages to surprise — exactly the way their fans love them.
