OVERKILL! Formed in 1980, the New Jersey legend quickly made their place in the metal scene. The release of their second album "Taking Over" marked the beginning of a steady rise to fame... er, well, to a time eloquently described by the movie wrestler character played by Mickey Rourke: "...until Kurt Cobain came along and fucked everything up."
However, 2010's "Ironbound" marked a significant return to form and swept away the old faithful and new OVERKILL audiences alike. The subsequent album "The Electric Age" (2012) confirmed the band's status as a seminal thrash legend and "White Devil Armory" (2014) was widely hailed as one of the highlights of their long career.
As is often the case, the band's line-up has changed over the years, but the band's wagon has been pulled tenaciously through good times and bad by bassist D.D. Verni and vocalist Bobby 'Blitz' Elsworth with his deliciously venomous scream.
After more than forty years in the saddle, the band shows no signs of slowing down. OVERKILL have never been afraid to experiment: their discography contains a range of influences from the raw to the epic to the progressive and the inclusion of industrial-tinged elements and from complex song structures to straightforward thrash. You'll also be delighted by the echoes from bluesy Sabbath rock to punk rock and groove metal in their songs.
