Old Man’s Child is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1993 in Oslo and has since established itself as one of the pillars of melodic and symphonic black metal. The band was founded by guitarist and vocalist Galder (born Thomas Rune Andersen), who remains the only permanent member. Their music is characterized by a combination of fast tremolo riffs, symphonic keyboards, and demonic vocals, creating a dark and majestic atmosphere. The band has a reputation more as a studio project than a live act, due to frequent lineup changes and Galder’s simultaneous involvement with Dimmu Borgir. However, in 2019, Old Man’s Child announced their reactivation, and in 2025 they are preparing for their first live tour in over twenty years.
