Technical death metal is not music for everyone. But few bands in this genre can bring it closer to people who would otherwise get dizzy with the complexity. And among these bands is one of the most powerful names in the subgenre, Germany's OBSCURA. Despite the technicality in their songs, they still maintain clarity and above all catchiness.

If the previous album "Diluvium" was their most technical and complicated yet, on the new album "A Valediction" OBSCURA with new members goes much more towards the Skandinavian melodic death metal and clearer structures. Though still changeable in terms of composition, the music is clearly written and built on straightforward punchiness, making the peculiar genre of more complicated metal sure to reach new audience.
