Formed in 1986 in Italy by singer Wildness Perversion, MORTUARY DRAPE is a band known for their unique blend of black occult metal. Influenced by bands like Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost, they released their first demo, "Necromancy," in 1987, gaining underground recognition. Their official debut came in 1992 with "Into the Drape," followed by the classic album "All the Witches Dance" in 1994. Since then, Mortuary Drape has been influential in the global black metal scene.
Their latest album, "Black Mirror," released on November 3rd, explores themes of past lives and the link between the past and present. The album offers a mix of ritualistic blasphemy and melodic vintage metal, reminiscent of acts like Mercyful Fate. Singer Wildness Perversion describes the album as both easier to listen to yet challenging in terms of composition and arrangements. The lyrics delve into magical rites, real events, and spells that connect us to our past lives, exploring the phenomenon of Deja Vu.
