Hailing from the Norwegian town of Drammen, Funeral are veterans of the scene, active since 1991 and widely regarded as pioneers of the funeral doom genre. Their music is defined by extremely slow tempos, heavy melancholic riffs, and an orchestral atmosphere. Funeral have earned a cult status thanks to their unique fusion of doom metal with classical elements and deeply introspective lyrics. They remain one of the most influential bands in the genre, with a body of work that continues to resonate more than three decades into their career.
