Draconian is a Swedish gothic/doom metal band formed in 1994 in Säffle, which originally started as a death metal project, renowned for its melancholic atmosphere, the interplay between delicate melody and crushing darkness, and the striking contrast of dual vocals. Their music relies on slow, heavy doom riffs, subtle orchestral arrangements, and the characteristic interplay between Anders Jacobsson’s deep growls and female clean vocals – first performed by Lisa Johansson and later by Heike Langhans. Albums such as Arcane Rain Fell (2005) and A Rose for the Apocalypse (2011) solidified their position on the scene, while Under a Godless Veil (2020) shows that their music remains emotionally powerful and relevant even after more than two decades.
