CORONER

Country: Switzerland
Genre: THRASH METAL

Coroner is a Swiss metal band formed in 1983 in Zurich, which throughout its career has become one of the most distinctive and original acts in European thrash metal. They were among the first thrash metal bands to systematically incorporate elements of jazz and progressive rock. Initially linked to Celtic Frost, they soon built their own identity thanks to technical precision, progressive arrangements, and unconventional song structures. Landmark albums like No More Color (1989) and Mental Vortex (1991) demonstrated that thrash could be not only aggressive but also intellectually demanding and atmospheric. With their unique blend of ferocity, cold precision, and progressive influences, Coroner earned the label “the Rush of thrash metal.” Although they disbanded in the mid-1990s, their legacy inspired countless musicians, and since their return in 2010, they have once again proved why they are regarded as legends who still sound relevant and inspiring today.
