CHTHE'ILIST was formed in 2010 by singer and guitarist Phil Tougas and drummer Phil Boucher. Their goal was to bring a darker atmosphere to death metal while maintaining complexity and unpredictability. Their debut album "Le Dernier Crépuscule", released on Profound Lore Records & Productions TSO, showcased their unique approach. The origin of their name, an enigmatic non-verbal phrase, adds to their mystery and reflects their ethereal aesthetic and lyrical themes. “It is part of a dialect we created for some of the lyrics. Otherworldly, disgusting sounding death metal should not use a human-sounding word as a moniker either”.
