First time at BA
Carnivore was an American crossover thrash band formed in 1983 by bassist Petrus (Peter) Ratajczyk, later known as Peter Steele (Type O Negative). The band was originally formed under the name Disciple and consisted of Peter Ratajczyk (bass), Louie Beateaux (drums), Larry (guitar) and Enrico (vocals). Larry was soon replaced by Stan Pillis, but in January 1984 the band changed its name to Carnivore and Pillis was replaced by Keith Alexander. Peter also took over the vocals. Carnivore's first concert was held on April 26, 1984 at Brooklyn's Zappa's Club (also known as The Hangout). On stage, the band performed in distinctive costumes - furs, camouflage, shoulder pads, bones, grenades and eight-inch spikes.
Carnivore first reunited in 1996, when original members Louie and Marc Piovanetti accompanied Peter on a short week-long tour from New York to Milwaukee. Another reunion took place in 2006. After Peter Steele's death on April 14, 2010, the band finally broke up.
In August 2017, Marc Piovanetti announced another return of the band under the name Carnivore A.D., in which he was joined by original drummer Louie Beateaux and Joe Branciforte on drums. Baron Misuraca took over as bassist and vocalist, a position held by Peter Steele.
