ARCHITECTS

Country: United Kingdom
Genre: METALCORE / POST-HARDCORE

In nearly 20 years, England's ARCHITECTS have become one of metalcore's leading bands, pushing the envelope with their ongoing songwriting process and, most importantly, their approach to every record. And with it, of course, the whole genre.

In the beginning, when twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle formed them in Brighton in 2004, they burst onto the scene with a ferocious core mix that drew heavily on the progressiveness and rambunctiousness of The Dillinger Escape Plan. However, time has sanded down the chaotic math hardcore and intricate djent rhythms in their case, and with the inclusion of arena anthemic and rock drive, the balance between melody and punch prevailed instead, and after leaving Century Media upon the release of their sixth album, "Lost Forever // Lost Together" for Epitaph Records, they achieved a worldwide recognition that has lasted to this day for ARCHITECTS. The metalcore throne has been conquered with this.

But shortly after the release of the follow-up, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, in 2016, lead guitarist and songwriter Tom Searle died after three years of living with skin cancer. Instead of a fall, however, the following years would mark an upswing for ARCHITECTS, as their acceptance of arena band status would improve the formula.

They multiply choruses, add grandeur, even references to their past, and for a while add orchestral undertones to their sound. But they never stop, and on their last two records they've streamlined the songwriting, honed the production even more, and emphasized the spectacular elements. And it's with the last two albums that ARCHITECTS have created some of the best 'arena metal' records of recent years, rocking the band higher and higher in popularity with their swagger and industrial drones without losing their energy.
